Oh, Canada

This was our trip to British Columbia for the Wedding of Morgan and Clare.

Day 1, we drove from Sandy, Utah to Issaquah, Washington. I don't think I ever want to do that again. However, the kids did manage to survive without killing one another. We made stops in Snowville, a rest stop just outside Boise and Pendleton, Oregon for dinner.

Day 2, we only had to drive a couple of hours to Aldergrove, which is just a few miles over the border. We spent the remainder of the day in the hotel room, minus a quick trip out into the frigid cold to let the kids get their wiggles out.

Day 3, is Morgan and Clare's wedding day. It was a very beautiful ceremony. Carrie played the violin with a piano accompaniment. The reception was very fun and we all had a good time eating, visiting and dancing. Now for those who don't know, Morgan is Carrie's cousin. Carrie has an aunt that lives in Logan, Utah and an Uncle named Mike who live in Surrey, British Columbia. Mike is married to Becky and they have three children, Marissa, Morgan and David. We went up to Canada for Marissa's wedding and Aubrey was the flower girl. Now we are up here again for Morgan. David lives in Bellevue, Washington.

Day 4, is Sunday. Not much going on today. We had a late breakfast and then went over to Clare's parents home. The renovated an old fire station and have a little coffee shop and store on the first floor and an apartment on the second floor. We spent a good portion of the day there while they opened wedding gifts. It was pretty casual and they had left over food from the reception. We went home and ordered pizza, then received call from Mike, Carrie's uncle, inviting us over for burgers and to see their cats.

Afterward we headed home, while driving on an on-ramp from one freeway to another we ran over something that ripped a hole in our tire. We had just bought four new tires the day before we left. I quickly got out and replaced the flat tire with the spare. I should give thanks to Rachael for showing us how to access the spare. After changing the tire we were quickly pulled over by the highway patrol. There were two police cars and one under cover car. After telling the officer we were chaning the tire, he let us go. But we all think there was something else going on. Hmmm. We did arrive home safely that night.

Day 5, Luckily they have Big O Tires in British Columbia. However, the store in Aldergrove did not have the size we needed. So I ended up going to Langley. They had the right size tire, but not the same tred. But I had them put it on anyway. We eventually got on our way back to Utah. We made it to Caldwell, Idaho with stops in Bellingham, WA for lunch, Marysville, WA for gas, and Richland, WA for dinner and gas.

Day 6, Today was just more driving. We stopped in Mountain Home for gas and then in Snowville, UT for lunch.

Not sure how bad I want to do that again.

Riding our Dune Buggies

Our family went down to a place called Glamis this past weekend. Now for those of you who have not heard of Glamis, it's a very large place that has nothing but sand dunes. Very very BIG sand dunes. And Michael LOVES riding in sand. As you can see in one picture our son Matthew almost always falls asleep when he's riding and misses going up all the big hills because that's what Michael does. Me on the other hand am still cautious of the big stuff. I like to play around on the kiddy sand dunes. Plus my quad isn't really meant for sand; it's meant for the rough mountains of Utah. Needless to say we had a lot of fun. We went with a few families from our ward who are just as crazy as Michael is. I wish I had some pictures of all the people riding up these dunes. They call the biggest one China Wall and it is scary. Well I just wanted to let you all know what we do for fun here in sunny California. Right now it is the perfect weather, but it won't last long and then it'll be back to 100 degree weather again. Well hope to see you all soon. Rachael

After the Priesthood session Gavin and I went and ate dinner at AB's drive in. I think everyone in our stake was there afterward. Bill McElprang and his son Joe McElprang came in also and they ate with us and talked for awhile. Bill said Ina isn't doing very well. Joe and his wife live right next door to Bill and Ina.
For those of you who went, what did you think of the Priesthood session. President Monson's talk was very good, I really enjoyed the part about the boy who was copying him.  This was Gavin's first Priesthood session, I thought he did very well, he didn't complain and I think he really enjoyed it.

What is going on in your family?

I am still working at Interbank FX, now IBFX.com. I am a Systems Engineer II and have been there for 18 months. I was recently called to be the Scout Eleven Advisor. However, there is only one boy and right now he goes with the older boys.

Carrie still works for Brite Music (britemusic.com). However, her hours have been cut back due to a decline in sales and/or other financial issues. Her and her sisters have started a company called Gypsy Chic. They will sell jewelry and vinyl lettering, along with other home decor. Carrie is also training for a half marathon in May.

Aubrey is in the second grade and loves school. She was baptized the beginning of March and is now going to activity days on Wednesday afternoons.

Braden is two and stays home with Mom and Grandma Pat. He loves the movie "Cars", and could watch it all day. He has learned all the letters of the alphabet and loves to sing the alphabet song.

Carrie's mother has been staying with us and will be here for another couple of months. She is looking to settle down in the Salt Lake area so she can be close to the Family History Center in SLC.

Please reply to this post with your family happenings. Thanks.

Taylor
